Frequently Asked Questions

  • Abacus tutoring isn’t a large corporation or franchise. You and your child will be working with a member of your own community to build skills for the future. If there is a roadblock along the way, we will do our best to find a solution including contacting teachers and tailoring lessons to your specific needs. We go beyond rote learning and get to the fundamentals and root causes of the skills your child is struggling with, including time management and test anxiety.

  • Let us know what you are looking for by reaching out through our contact form or giving us a call—we’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions you may have.

  • Each session is $50 payed through Venmo or Cashapp.

  • You can reach Pat at anytime through his email pat@abacus-tutoring.com or by texting or calling (301) 202-4844.

  • We allow parents to attend the first session so they can get a feel for the style and content of tutoring. However, we kindly ask that parents allow our tutors to work independently with students in order to build trust and facilitate a pressure-free atmosphere of learning.

  • For middle and high school tutoring we ask that you sign up for a minimum of 8 weekly sessions in order to see benefits at the end of the semester.

  • Currently we are only offering tutoring in Math and Computer Science. However, if you are in college or a professional we can provide help with advanced topics including how to get the most out of AI in your workplace. If you are looking for more targeted help, reach out through our email or give us a call.

  • We currently only offer in person tutoring at local Frederick County libraries. This makes it easier for students to share their work on paper and builds trust between them and our tutors.
